12U Coach of the Year - Chase Frize

🏆 12U Coach of the Year – Chase Frize 🏆

Team:
SpartanNash

Years of Experience Coaching Baseball:

10 Years

About Coach Frize:
Chase Frize, born and raised in Miles City, Montana, developed a passion for baseball early on, playing through his Legion years with the Miles City Mavericks. He later attended UND, where he earned an associate's degree in business administration. For the past 15 years, Chase has worked at Cash-Wa Distributing, formerly known as Food Services of America. He lives in Fargo with his wife, Nicole, and their two sons, Landon (14) and Connor (12), both of whom he coaches. Chase enjoys the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending sunny days on the baseball diamond. While Chase coached the SpartanNash team this summer, he also served as an assistant coach for the 12U Fargo White team that advanced to the LLB Central Region in Whitestown, Indiana.

Balancing Winning and Player Development:
While Chase loves winning, he believes it’s not everything—it's all about the kids. He emphasizes giving every child the opportunity to grow, believing that if the team comes first and they’re having fun, the wins will follow. He focuses on fostering a unified team environment that helps kids develop not only as players but also as individuals.

Building Team Chemistry and Positive Culture:
Chase promotes a positive team culture by making sure everyone has opportunities to grow. He understands that baseball is a game of failure, and he encourages his players to fail together, learn, and support one another. He quickly addresses negativity, reminding his players that the team always comes first.

Influences and Lessons Learned:
Chase credits his old Legion coach, Jack Helber, as a significant influence. Jack taught him the importance of playing as a team and made sure to emphasize the value of having fun—a lesson Chase carries into his coaching today.

Advice for New Coaches:
Chase advises new coaches to have fun and never give up on a kid, no matter what.
