About Ryan Birney:
Ryan Birney’s love for baseball began at age 8. He played high school baseball at Tecumseh High School in Oklahoma and competed in American Legion, where his team reached the State finals. Ryan continued his baseball journey at the collegiate level, playing for Carl Albert State College (JUCO) and the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (NAIA). After his playing days, he served as a graduate assistant coach at USAO for a year. Following his coaching stint, Ryan joined the Army and served during Operation Enduring Freedom. He now works with the West Fargo Police Department. His passion for baseball remains strong, and he finds great joy in teaching kids about the game, sharing the excitement and life lessons it offers.

Coaching Philosophy and Evolution:
Ryan believes that baseball teaches both players and coaches valuable life lessons. Just as in life, it’s important to stay positive, continuously challenge yourself to improve, and learn from your mistakes.

Strategies for Keeping Players Motivated:
Ryan sets individual goals for each player and recognizes their achievements throughout the season, keeping them motivated and focused.

Staying Current with Baseball Trends and Techniques:
Ryan stays up-to-date by watching a lot of baseball and listening closely to insights from the stars of the game.

Coaching Legacy:
Ryan hopes to leave a legacy where every player appreciates the challenges and rewards of baseball. He believes that baseball is the most difficult sport to master, but with hard work and dedication, it offers lasting success. Above all, he wants his players to develop a deep love and appreciation for the game.
