Youth Baseball Umpire Coordinator/Assignor
Overview:
The umpire coordinator/assignor(s) will be responsible for recruiting and assigning umpires to work all youth baseball games for ages 9-15, which includes Red River Valley League games, travel team games, and tournament games played in Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead. This position works closely with the Red River Valley League staff and committee. This is a salary paid position and is seasonal (April through October).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific duties include, but may not be limited to:
- Assign umpires to all youth baseball games (league and tournaments)
- Manage the umpire roster keeping information up to date
- Recruit umpires to add to the roster
- Set up training opportunities for umpires throughout the year
- Attend games and observe umpires
- Work closely with Red River Valley League staff and committee
- Work closely with Fargo Youth Baseball & West Fargo Baseball travel programs
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Knowledge in the sport of baseball
- Commitment to being available and responsive to scheduling needs
- Fun and energetic personality
- Previous assigning experience preferred
- Previous umpiring experience preferred
- Knowledge of using an assigning system preferred
Compensation:
This position will be paid through Fargo Youth Baseball’s payroll. The umpire coordinator(s) will be paid based on performance and games filled. The breakdown of pay can be split between 2 people if interested candidates would like to team up. Salary is as follows:
- 70% or less will result in a review by the RRVL with a minimum salary of $5,000
- 71% - 90% of games filled will get paid $6,500
- 90% - 100% of games will receive $7,500 plus a $1,500 bonus.
** Pay will be made monthly and prorated based on each month and the total salary.
