Tournament Rules

Rule Differences for the Tournament - The rules listed below will override the rules listed in the league rules at the bottom of this page.

  1. ALL games will be 5 innings (exception – time limit).
  2. Time limit will be for enforced for ALL games once the home team takes the field. No new inning will start after 1 hour and 15 minutes. There's no time limit for the championship game in the highest/gold bracket. The umpire will have the official time.

  3. 9-12U Divisions: play the field with 9 players. An extra player (EP) may be used in the lineup and can rotate positions freely with the other 9 players in the field. Normal substitution and re-entry rules apply. 9. You are allowed to use the continuous batting order option if you would like to choose this option. In a continuous batting order, you may not change the order that your players bat once it is set prior to the game. However, if a player would become ineligible to bat, they would be considered an out for only the first time through the order. After that, they're removed from the batting order and will not be considered an automatic out. With CBO, the defense is allowed "free substitution" meaning players can be entered or removed as desired.

8U Division: All divisions can play the field with 10 players, requiring 4 to be in the outfield. All outfielders must be positioned starting in the grass. Normal substitution and re-entry rules apply if batting 10. You are allowed to use the continuous batting order option if you would like to choose this option. 5. 15 run rule after 3 innings and 10 run rule after 4 innings.
  6. Tie-Breaker System: If a game is tied after regulation innings have been completed during straight bracket play, the “California” tie breaker rule will go into effect. The last out in the previous inning will begin on 2nd base and there will be one (1) out. This will continue until a winner is declared.
  7. The higher seed will be declared the home team.
  8. For ages 9-12U, there will be NO max run rule per an inning in effect for the tournament. For 8U, A half-inning ends when any of the following occur: 3 outs are recorded or 5 runs have been scored.
  9. Pitch counts will be as followed for ages 9-12U. No pitcher shall pitch more than 5 innings total for the tournament AND must adhere to the following rest requirements:
