Ross Olson was the head groundskeeper for FYB at Tharaldson Little League in the summer of 2022. Ross has spent many years coaching baseball in the area and is a valid member of the community. He has also coached youth baseball for the last 5 years in Fargo and Moorhead and 7 years at Fargo South HS. His wife Brittany is a current teacher at Fargo South High and they have 2 children: 9 year old Remington and 7 year old Bryceson Ann. Both kids have participated in youth baseball for Fargo and Moorhead. Ross’ baseball career included playing for the Fargo Bombers and Fargo Post 2. Ross is currently one of Post 2’s single season home run record holders. He also holds the record for most home runs in a game.

 

Recently, Ross was given some bad news. On Wednesday October 26th, Ross suffered multiple seizures while driving resulting in a car crash. He was taken by life flight to Sanford. Along with severe shoulder damage, CT and MRI scans showed a tumor deep in Ross’s temporal lobe of his brain. Surgery to repair his shoulder was successful, however the surgery to remove the tumor will be difficult. Surgery will be done sometime this spring. Total recovery will depend on how surgery goes and Ross’s cognitive abilities after. Ross will need to have PT, OT, and speech therapy following surgery.
