January Small Group Development Sessions

Get personalized training in small group settings with experienced instructors to help you sharpen your baseball skills. These sessions are designed to focus on fundamentals while ensuring a fun learning environment. Spots are limited, so sign up quickly if you'd like to train with a friend!

Ages: 5-15U

Location: The ATTIC (1892 17th Ave S, Fargo, ND 58103)

Cost: $120 per session (Cost includes 4 sessions)

Group Size: Max 6 players

Hitting/Infield Defense Sessions with Christian Ibarra

Focus: Half of each session will be focused on infield defense and the other half will be focused on hitting.

Infield Defense: Fundamentals of fielding ground balls, footwork, glove work, and throwing accuracy.
Hitting: Fundamentals of stance, grip, swing mechanics, strength, and power development.

Monday Groups (Hitting/Infield Defense)

Dates: 1/6, 1/13, 1/20, 1/27 (4 sessions)

Group 1 (Ages 5-6): 4:00 PM – 4:55 PM
Group 2 (Ages 11-12): 5:00 PM – 5:55 PM
Group 3 (Ages 9-10): 6:00 PM – 6:55 PM

Thursday Groups (Hitting/Infield Defense OR Hitting Only)

Dates: 1/9, 1/16, 1/23, 1/30 (4 sessions)

Group 4 (Ages 7-8): 4:00 PM – 4:55 PM (Hitting/Infield Defense)
Group 5 (Ages 13-15): 5:00 PM – 5:55 PM – (HITTING ONLY)

Catcher Defense with Zach Frazier (Monday)

Focus: Stance, receiving, blocking, footwork, and throwing mechanics.

Dates: 1/6, 1/13, 1/20, 1/27 (4 sessions)

Group 6 (Ages 11-12): 4:00 PM – 4:55 PM
Group 7 (Ages 9-10): 5:00 PM – 5:55 PM
Group 8 (Ages 13-15): 6:00 PM – 6:55 PM

Pitching with Gene Gunderson (Wednesdays)

Focus: Mechanics, grip, command, velocity development, and mental approach to pitching.

Dates: 1/8, 1/15, 1/22, 1/29 (4 sessions)

Group 9 (Ages 9-10): 4:00 PM – 4:55 PM
Group 10 (Ages 11-12): 5:00 PM – 5:55 PM
Group 11 (Ages 13-15): 6:00 PM – 6:55 PM

If a session is unavailable, it may be full. In the event that group numbers are low, you may be contacted by the Fargo Area Sports office for other arrangements.

About Our Instructors

Christian Ibarra: Christian played collegiate baseball at LSU, earning honors like First-Team All-SEC, SEC All-Defensive Team, and SEC All-Tournament Team in 2013. He coached at LSU in 2015 and spent ten seasons in professional baseball, including stints with the Lincoln Saltdogs, Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, Guadalajara Mariachis, Oaxaca, Ottawa Titans, and the Minnesota Twins.

Zach Frazier: Zach was a 4-year starting catcher at the University of Minnesota-Crookston. He ranks 4th all-time in games started, 6th in RBIs, and 2nd in fielding percentage. Zach played for the Weyburn Beavers in 2016 and 2017.

Gene Gunderson: Gene Gunderson is the Volunteer Assistant Pitching Coach at Valley City State University and a Driveline Certified pitching coach specializing in arm care and building healthy velocity. This summer, he will coach the West Fargo Aces, followed by coaching the Dakota Selects in the fall.

Additional Information

Eligibility: Open to FYB players registered for the 2024 or 2025 summer season. Non-FYB players may register within 10 days of the first session.
Equipment: Bring a glove for infield sessions, and a bat and helmet for hitting sessions. Catcher gear and glove for catcher defense sessions. Additional equipment will be available if needed.
Footwear: Clean, dry tennis shoes required (no cleats).
